Author

J. Larry Jameson

J. Larry Jameson is an American physician-scientist and academic leader who is known for his contributions to the field of endocrinology. He is the author and editor of numerous medical textbooks and research publications, including Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine.

Jameson was born in North Carolina in 1956 and received his undergraduate degree from Duke University before earning his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he also served on the faculty for over a decade.

In 1998, Jameson was recruited to the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as the chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and the director of the Penn Diabetes Center. He later became the executive vice president of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the dean of the Perelman School of Medicine, a position he held from 2011 to 2021.

Anthony Fauc
